British Paratroopers Commission Offensive Miniatures 28mm

The British Paratrooper forces played a critical role in the Normandy and North West Europe Campaigns during WWII, and it was a privilege to bring this 28mm miniature project to life for one of our clients. The commission featured an impressive variety of units, including snipers, engineers, a 6-pdr anti-tank gun with a full crew, a mortar team, machine gunners, medics, PIAT teams and more!

Miniature Quality

The models for this project were sourced from Offensive Miniatures and Artizan Designs (North Star Miniatures). While the Artizan Designs figures are slightly chunkier, resembling the heroic scale of Warlord Games, the Offensive Miniatures range offers a more realistic proportion. Despite these differences, the two ranges blend seamlessly together, creating a dynamic and cohesive force. I stand by my belief that these two companies produce the highest-quality metal WWII 28mm miniatures available today.

Painting Denison

A highlight of this project was painting the iconic Denison Jackets worn by British paratroopers. Here's the process I used:

  1. Start with a base coat of English Uniform.

  2. Layer on Vallejo Middlestone for the jacket base.

  3. Add the camo pattern using Flat Brown and Luftwaffe Green.

  4. Finish with a dark wash like Dark Tone for depth and shading.

The level of detail on these figures allowed for a truly satisfying painting experience, bringing out the character and history of these troops.

Client Feedback

The client was thrilled with the final result and plans to use these paratroopers in an upcoming Normandy campaign. We look forward to seeing the miniatures in action and have been promised plenty of battle photographs to share in the near future!
